A Red Cattle Dog & an Unfortunate Diagnosis...
Meet Charlie
Charlie is a red cattle dog born in 2019, and was diagnosed with hip dysplasia a couple of months before his 6th birthday in late 2025.
Knowing that the best form of therapy for this condition is hydrotherapy, I searched for the closest service to find that it was at least an hour drive one way and the open hours wouldn't work with my full time job.
Although Charlie loves car rides, my little rage monster does not like people he doesn't know. With this all in mind and knowing he would need hydrotherapy ongoing as he ages, I purchased an underwater treadmill for home use.
When I mentioned it to Dr Dan (one of the many amazing vets that was helping Charlie at the time) that I bought an underwater treadmill, he asked "Where will you run the business out of?". Without thinking I responded with "Well I can't run it from my place because I'm currently renting." Dr Dan then told me he would be happy to rent a room at the surgery. Fast forward 5 months - Charlie's Canine Hydrotherapy Clinic Pty Ltd was born.
I am one assessment away from finishing my qualification; a new and better hydrotherapy machine is soon to be ordered; and clinic opening dates are edging closer and closer.
